Need of a career counselor/coach
Ever thought about finding a career counselor or coach at any stage of your life? In the context of Nepal, there is a trend to seek a counselor only at times when you want to go for abroad studies. But why not at times when you have to decide regarding your future subject/course or even your career? Sadly, it’s all decided either at home or during tea-time or sometimes even casually.
After all, we believe that’s just boring or does not require any attention. But isn’t making decisions on a career important, after all your future matters and so does your happiness.
Just imagine, you’re sitting confused, unable to figure out what’s going on, and thinking about what’s next. In such a situation, don’t you think if there was someone to at least listen to you, and advise you without judgement then you would be in a different state than the previous one?
Wouldn’t that be a wonderful opportunity for you to feel good about yourself, and be in peace of mind? The answer is a ‘yes’ and there’s no second thought on this.
I understand family, as well as friends, play vital roles in your life as they are the ones who understand you from different perspectives. But though, coming from a very loving and supportive family, in some of the difficult phases in my life especially deciding on a career, I have also felt if there was someone else I could share, listen to. I know it would have made a lot of difference.
This is where that third person plays a significant role and that is the point you must admit you require a counselor, a coach, a mentor. At times, when you’re lost, you must find a way and there’s no better way than to take the help of a career counselor.
Deciding on studies after your 10th or 12th is a big step as at that stage, your brain starts generating all the ideas for your future career. If you go wrong then it might even cost you a fortune.
How I wish I had that ‘someone’ who could at least guide me, after all, the doing part is all yours. To chase the dream and become successful in life, your steps are what matter. Just imagine, when you’re riding a bike and lost in your thoughts, either the bumps and jolts or the speedy vehicles awaken you; then you are thankful to them not only for bringing you to light but also for saving your life.
The way ups and downs, challenges, etc. are part of your everyday life, even the career counselors could play a meaningful role. Please remember, finding the correct and the best one is your job and your ultimate fight for your own life.
